黄莎（キスゲ）
『和漢三才図会』湿草類に曰く
粉条児菜（キスゲ）〔割書：黄菅草・紅菅草。私が言うには、これは花が略（ほぼ）赤く、同じ種類である〕
植木屋の説に曰く
未蘭（ヒツジラン）〔別名〕未草（ヒツジソウ）
この花は未の刻（午後2時頃）に開き、夜には萎れるので、「未」の名を得た。その根が蘭に似ているので未蘭と言う。また俗称として「日光黄菅」というものもある。これは本草に「節庭花」と記されているものの事であり、少し似ているが別物である。

Funjoujisai (Kisuge) [Marginal note: Yellow Kanasugusa; Red Kanasugusa. I say: these have mostly red flowers and are of the same species.]
According to plant nursery sellers:
Hitsujiran (Hitsujiran) [Also called:] Hitsujisō
This flower opens at the Hour of the Ram (around 2 p.m.) and wilts at night, which is why it acquired the name "Hitsuji" (Ram). Its roots resemble those of an orchid (ran), hence the name Hitsujiran. There is also a popular name "Nikkō Kisuge." This refers to what is recorded in the honzō (herbal) as "Setteika," and while it is somewhat similar, it is a distinct plant.
