【右頁 上】
木部の妻である香取姫は容顔美麗であるので、夫の心にも叶い、睦まじく過ごしていたが、ある時化粧をしようと鏡に映る顔を見て驚いた。しかし心の広い蔵人であるので、そのままにして見過ごした。
【右頁 下】
「自分が蛇身であることは、我が妻には知られていないだろう。随分と松本屋の岩戸香でよそおいましょう。」

新蔵人は腕に痛みがあるとして、同国伊香保の湯に入湯なさった。湯主の金太夫がこの所の名所について物語をする。

However, one time when she was applying makeup and looked at her face reflected in the mirror, she was startled. But since the kurando (her husband) was broad-minded, he let it pass without comment.
