舅の信濃介蔵人のもとへ招かれ、逗留の間に根小屋の山に上がって佐野の渡りを見晴らし、酒盛りをした所で、倉賀野の着物を着た舞子を目見得（面接）に遣わす。幸いなことに、羽鳥姫に一曲舞わせる。

「それはそれは、あの身なりで吉原の男装でも見たいようだ。地は我らが間に合わせましょう。これこれ仁介、そちは奴になれ。いやはやどうも。」

羽鳥姫は羽衣を取り返そうとするため、手立てとして奉公人に身をやつして来る望みに任せて舞う。その舞の様子はまことに序三帖、破六帖、合わせて九品の舞い手に合掌の美事さがあり、見仏聞法の楽を舞ったので、蔵人ももとより舞に鍛練していて、ほとんど感動に堪えて、早速羽鳥姫を召し抱える。

【Right page, upper right】
Invited to his father-in-law Shinano-no-suke Kurando's residence, during his stay he climbs Mount Negoya to overlook Sano no Watari and holds a drinking party. There, he sends a dancer dressed in Kuragano clothing for an audition (memiе). Fortunately, he has Hatori-hime perform a dance.

"Well, well, with that appearance she could look like a male courtesan from Yoshiwara. We'll provide the accompaniment. Here, Nisuke, you become a servant. My, my, indeed."

She performs movements in the style of ten (heaven) and fan techniques, with reversals and such, exactly like Rokō-style choreography.

Hatori-hime, in order to retrieve her feathered robe, disguises herself as a servant as a stratagem and dances according to her wishes. The manner of her dance truly displays the magnificence of gassho (prayer hands) worthy of a dancer of jo three sections and ha six sections, totaling nine levels. Since she danced the music of kenbutsu monbō no gaku (the pleasure of seeing Buddha and hearing the Dharma), Kurando, who was originally trained in dance, was almost overcome with emotion and immediately took Hatori-hime into his service.
