現代語訳
【右頁 右】
六月の中頃、暑さもいよいよ増す夜の子の刻ばかりに、晴継が一間を出て笛を吹くと、不思議にもそれほどの暑気がたちまち冷気となり、雹が降って庭にある鉢の木に積もった。その上、天に音楽の声が聞こえてくる。

この音に羽鳥姫、佐野姫が目を覚まし、心面白くなって両人が舞を奏で、越天楽、霓裳羽衣の曲を演じる。藤内左衛門も皆々不思議な有様だなと、目を逸らすことなく見ている。

「ああ面白い笛の音よ。あれあれ天に音楽が聞こえます。これにつけても早く羽衣を取り返して天上したいものです。」

「［判読困難］行かぬ。あいつらは菊の丞が望月という身で味を許すのめす［？］いよいよよいと言います。よくよく見届けて鎌倉へ注進申そう。」

【Right page, right】
In mid-June, when the heat was becoming ever more intense, around the hour of the Rat at night, Haretsugu came out of his room and played the flute. Mysteriously, the intense heat suddenly turned to cool air, hail fell and accumulated on the potted tree in the garden. Moreover, the sound of music could be heard from heaven.

At this sound, Hatori-hime and Sano-hime awakened, their hearts filled with delight, and both performed a dance, playing the melodies of Etenraku and Geishō no Ui. Tōnai Zaemon and all the others watched without looking away, thinking what a wondrous sight this was.

"Oh, what beautiful flute music! Listen, listen - music can be heard from heaven! This makes me want to retrieve my feathered robe quickly and ascend to heaven."
