いで其時のはちの木はとは 謡曲（いようきよく）又は 両（りやう）竹の□
だんに見へてみる人の 知（し）る 処（ことろ）なりしかりといへ共□
渡（わた）りといふ 名所（めいしよ）についていさゝかおもしろき□
ありつれて 同郡（どうくん） 伊香保（いかほ）の 名湯（めいたう）は 婦（ふ）□
相湯（さうたう）なる事 神（しん）のごとしとて 諸国（しよこく）より女□
爰（こゝ）に 往来（わうらい）する事 女護嶋（によごのしま）ともいふべ□

さて、その当時の鉢の木とは、謡曲または浄瑠璃の段に見えているので、見る人の知るところである。しかしながら、佐野の渡りという名所について、少しばかり面白い話があったので、同じ郡の伊香保の名湯は、婦人に相当よいことが神のようであるということで、諸国より女性がここに往来することは、女護島ともいうべきである。ことに、この山上に野ばたの富士山というのがある。あれこれの由来をかいつまんで今風に綾なして、綺語の空事を交えて、女性や子どもの慰めとなるよう、めでたい春の月日を過ごすこととする。

Now, the potted tree (hachinoki) of that time appears in Noh chants or joruri puppet theater segments, so it is known to those who see it. However, regarding the famous place called Sano no Watari (Sano Crossing), there was a somewhat interesting story. The famous hot springs of Ikaho in the same district are said to be so beneficial for women that it is like divine intervention, with women from all provinces coming and going here - it could be called an island of women (Nyogo-no-shima). Especially on this mountaintop, there is what is called Mount Fuji of Nobata. Summarizing the various origins and weaving them into a modern style, mixing in fictional tales of elegant words, this is intended to comfort women and children during the auspicious days of spring.
