ノミ残レル趣（ヲモムキ）ナリ近世（キンヲハ）伊達政宗（イダテマサムネ）ヨリ三代目 吉村（ヨシムラ）
中将（チウジヤウ）ノ時此辺方々ト尋（タツネ）求（モトメ）ラレシニ今ノ碑（ヒ）ヲ土
中ヨリ堀（ホリ）キヲリト云 頼朝（ヨリトモ）ノ時タニモ見ルコト
カタキモノヲ今千年ノ後ニ至（イタ）リ文字（モンジ）モ明白￣ニ其
石少シモ損（ソン）ヺズシテ人々是ヲ見ル事誠ニ不 思（シ）

In recent times, during the era of Yoshimura Chūjō, the third generation from Date Masamune, when they searched various places in this area, they discovered the present monument by digging it up from the earth. Even in Yoritomo's time it was difficult to see, yet now after a thousand years have passed, the characters remain clear and the stone shows no damage whatsoever - it is truly miraculous that people can still view it today. The monument's form is that of a natural stone with only the carved side made flat and visible. It stands five to six shaku tall and two to three shaku thick, with no base stone. There is a small hall built around it as cover, with latticed openings on all four sides so that people can view it. The stone has a slightly reddish tint, having been subjected to fire
