Since it was dangerous for an avalanche to come from above, without looking back or ahead, all three of us scattered and just ran and ran, running for more than ten chō until we finally emerged into an open area. The sound of the river also grew somewhat distant, and feeling as though we had narrowly escaped with our lives, we rested for a while. At this place, the three of us finally gathered together in one spot and rejoiced that we were all safe. Shortly thereafter, we reached a place called Bikuni and rented lodging. After settling down, when I looked at the faces of my two companions, their complexion was like earth, their hearts were still pounding, and truly, today's perilous events cannot possibly be fully described in writing.
