この書物は我が国の物産を集めたものであって、遠く海外へ輸出する品物はもちろんのこと、新しく人が作った物品、珍しい器具、変わった細工物、遊戯のものまでも漏らさず収録し、かつ先生が長年の労力をもって物の名前の正しい文字を調べ、その品物の産出地である国・郡を記載し、子どもの読み物として編纂したので、学校に入門したばかりの幼い子どもたちも、早くこの書物によって暗誦することができれば、日本の豊かで強い土地の様子を理解することができる。まことに当今の宝書とも言うべき書物である。

This book is a compilation of the products of our nation, including not only goods exported far overseas, but also newly manufactured items, rare implements, unusual crafted articles, and even playthings, all recorded without omission. Furthermore, through the teacher's years of labor, the correct characters for product names have been researched, and the places of origin - countries and districts - where these items are produced have been documented. Since this has been compiled as reading material for children, young students who have just entered school can quickly memorize this book, and thereby come to understand the prosperous and strong character of Japan's land and climate. This is truly a book that can be called a treasure volume of our current age.
