【Main text】
The village headman of that place said,
"I thought stopping them would be
unnecessary, but
these two
men are
wise and
have quite reasonable
judgment and insight,
so let them proceed."
♪Thus
Jōun
became proud and
set off,
but contrary to
his initial bold words,
he barely escaped
with his life,
fleeing back before anyone else.
The remaining
two
men
became very
angry and
mocked him
thoroughly.
