文章を書くことに愚かで、口では言えても、その理由を十分に表現することができない。筆を取って硯をかき回すこと数刻に及ぶけれども、習わぬ経の読誦のようなもので、それでも浮世に及ばないならば、話や言い伝えも確かではないだろうと、ゆっくりと思案を重ねて決心し、子供だましのような拙い文章で、ここまでは不埒でたらたらとした俗語ばかり書いてきたところに、一人の子供である乾三が肘のそばに来て、「御回向が盛大で賑やかです。また初の十日には御練りがあり、その行列は」
