メ衣服ノ与ヘテ之ヲ暖メ療養シケル程ニ昨日 ノ乞食今日ハ唐織ノ衣服ヲ身ニ纏ヒ病モ自ラ 心ヨク快復セル類多シ就中癩瘡等ノ難病南蛮 流ノ外療ヲ受ケ数月ヲ歴スシテ全快シ誠ノ仏 菩薩今世ニ出現シテ救世済度シ玉フナリト近国 佗国風説区々也故ニ諸国ノ大病難病ニ侵サレ 貧賤ニテ我力ニ不叶者或ハ諸医ノ療養ニ治ス ルヿ能ハサル者貴賤共ニ南蛮寺ニ群集スルヿ 不斜ケリコリヤリイス両イルマン悉ク之ヲ南 蛮寺ニ留メテ良薬ヲ施シ医療半ニ快復スル病 人共ヲ率ヒ是等ニ説テ曰ク抑我本国ハ四十二 箇国ト雖トモ此国ノ類ニ非ス大国也然レトモ天ノ 帝釈ヲ敬フカ故ニ貧賤ノ者ナク難病ニ侵サル ル者ナシ我国王仁慈ニシテ国民ヲ憐ミ恵ム其上 世界ノ諸国此天帝ヲ崇敬シテ貧苦病難ノ患ヲ 遁レ現安後楽ノ宗法ヲ知ラス今生ノ苦患ノミ ナラス未来永劫ノ罪ニ陥ヿヲ憐テ今我等ノ如 キノ者ヲ世界ニ渡シテ此天帝ノ法ヲ弘通セ令 給フ所也此日本等ノ如キハ天帝ヲ敬フヿヲ知 ラサルカ故ニ貧賤ナル者多シ是ヨリ起テ邪欲

清め、衣服を与えてこれを暖め、療養させたところ、昨日の乞食が今日は唐織の衣服を身にまとい、病も自然と心地よく回復した例が多い。とりわけ癩瘡(らいそう、ハンセン病)等の難病が南蛮流の外科療法を受けて数ヶ月を経て全快し、「真の仏菩薩が今の世に出現して救世済度してくださるのだ」と近国他国で風説が区々であった。 そのため、諸国の大病・難病に侵され、貧賤で自分の力では治療できない者、あるいは諸医の療養でも治すことができない者が、身分の貴賤を問わず南蛮寺に群集することがひどく多くなった。コリヤリイス両イルマンは、これらの者をことごとく南蛮寺に留めて良薬を施し、医療により半分ほど快復した病人たちを率いて、これらの者に説いて言うことには: 「そもそも我々の本国は四十二ヶ国といえども、この国(日本)の類ではない。大国である。しかしながら天の帝釈(神)を敬うがゆえに、貧賤の者はなく、難病に侵される者もない。我が国王は仁慈にして国民を憐れみ恵む。その上、世界の諸国がこの天帝を崇敬して貧苦病難の患いを逃れ、現世安穏後世楽土の宗法を知らず、今生の苦患のみならず未来永劫の罪に陥ることを憐れんで、今我々のような者を世界に派遣してこの天帝の法を弘通させてくださるのである。この日本等のようなところは天帝を敬うことを知らないがゆえに貧賤なる者が多い。これより起こって邪欲が

After cleansing them and providing clothing to warm them and giving them medical treatment, there were many cases where yesterday's beggars today wore Chinese brocade clothing and their illnesses naturally and comfortably recovered. Particularly, those with difficult diseases like leprosy received Nanban-style surgical treatment and after several months were completely cured, leading to various rumors in neighboring and distant provinces that "true Buddhist bodhisattvas have appeared in this world to save and deliver people." Therefore, those from various provinces who were afflicted with serious and incurable diseases, who were poor and lowly and could not afford treatment with their own resources, or those whom various doctors' treatments could not cure, regardless of their social status, flocked to the Nanban temple in great numbers.
