いたし居候様子此節ニ而も拾四俵半なれハ
八九百俵位ハ売候而も宜と申もの有之候由

現代語訳
俵になり、売る人がいないとのこと。しかし品物はそれぞれ所持
しているようす。この時節でも十四俵半であれば、
八、九百俵位は売っても良いと言う者もいるとのこと。
この値段であれば当地では五斗二、三升位上がっている
とのこと。
晦日 朝曇り、蒸し暑い。四つ半時より快晴。

当月二十四日より数の子の難船物を売りに参り、取引
初めは一升百文位、それより段々沢山に売人が参り、
一升三十二文、二十八文位になり、家ごとに安値

大いに苦しみ、吐き下しがあり、上下御町にて患わ
ない者は誠に稀な位である。その内にも吉沼にて一人、
台町にて一人、青柳にて一人、根本辺にて一人死んだとのこと。
追々承れば府中辺、土浦、笠間その外所々へ参り、いずれもあたった
とのこと。皆四、五日位ずつ患い申すので用心すべきである。
数の子は産前産後ともに常にも良くないとのこと。婦人は
特に心得るべきである。

From the 24th of this month, shipwrecked herring roe came for sale. Initially
trading at about 100 mon per sho, then gradually many sellers came,
becoming about 32 mon, 28 mon per sho. Each household bought
because of the low price and ate it, but as soon as they ate it, they immediately got sick,
suffering greatly with vomiting and diarrhea. In the upper and lower town districts, those who
didn't fall ill were truly rare. Among them, one person died in Yoshinuma,
one in Daimachi, one in Aoyagi, one around Nemoto area.
From what I gradually heard, [the roe] went to Fuchu area, Tsuchiura, Kasama and various other places, and everywhere people got sick.
Everyone suffered for about 4-5 days each, so one should be careful.
Herring roe is not good before or after childbirth either. Women should
especially take note.
