旧冬より大山田上郷と申す所の山中、谷合いの楢山にて、両方に杉山がある所にアトリと申す小鳥が夥しく集まり、右の杉山に両分かれに分かれ居り、夕七ツ時（午後四時）より食い合いをし、あたかも合戦のごとく、毎日死んだ鳥が俵にして二俵位にもなる由。今以って日々合戦があり、この節に至って見物人が群集し、諸商人なども出る由。御郡方にも申し出になったと申すこと。

From last winter, in a place called Oyamada Kamigo, in the mountains among valleys with oak trees, where there are cedar groves on both sides, small birds called Atori have gathered in great numbers. They have divided into two groups in these cedar groves, and from seven o'clock in the evening (4 PM) they fight each other like a battle. Every day, dead birds amount to about two straw bales. The battles continue daily even now. At this time, crowds of spectators gather, and various merchants come out as well. It is said that this matter has been reported to the district office.
