 一亜墨利加登   城之節休泊場所品川辺大寺へ被仰付候所   唐人共ニ而寺ハいや〳〵と申さたニ御座   候  一七月廿八日   梅御殿様御登   城之節并伊へ御逢被遊度被仰候所御部屋   へ不罷出逃去り候沙汰ニ御座候  一鍋島公因許之義是迄海防手当台場等厳重   出来尤右ニ付窮迫候由然ル所先達而国主   中寄合之節貴殿義ハ御国許海岸御手当厚   御出来御物入之所上ニ而も被聞召御察有   之候而御褒美御頂戴無陰所ニ候間入郡之   義先つ貴殿ゟ御願御指【見せ消ち「持」】出候間可然相済候   へハ其上ニ而又々我々共御暇願指出可申   との相談之よし  一鍋島公願ふりハ私義国許海防手当台場等   出来別而困窮仕候百【見せ消ち「間」】性【姓?】町人迄及窮迫候付   アメリカ登城御済ニ相成候得ハ泰平ニ御   座候間御暇奉願国元取直し方手段仕度依

現代語訳

一、亜墨利加登城の節、休泊場所として品川辺りの大寺へ仰せ付けられ候ところ、   唐人共にて寺は嫌だ嫌だと申した沙汰にて御座候  一、七月廿八日、梅御殿様御登城の節、並びに伊へ御逢い遊ばされ度く仰せられ候ところ、   御部屋へ罷り出でず逃げ去り候沙汰にて御座候  一、鍋島公因州許しの義、これまで海防手当て台場等厳重に   出来、もっとも右につき窮迫し候由。然るところ先達って国主中   寄合の節、「貴殿の義は御国許海岸御手当て厚く   御出来、御物入りのところ、上にても聞こし召され御察し有り   之候て、御褒美御頂戴、疑いなきところに候間、入国の   義、先ず貴殿より御願い御指し出し候間、然るべく相済み候   えばその上にて又々我々共、御暇願い指し出し申すべき」   との相談のよし  一、鍋島公願いぶりは「私義、国許海防手当て台場等   出来、別して困窮仕り候。百姓町人まで窮迫に及び候につき、   アメリカ登城御済みに相成り候得ば太平にて御座候間、   御暇奉り願い、国元取り直し方手段仕り度く依って

英語訳

One, Regarding the Americans' castle visit, when a large temple in the Shinagawa area was designated as their lodging place,   it is said that the foreigners declared the temple was unacceptable to them.  One, On July 28th, when Lord Ume-goten made his castle visit and wished to meet with I[?],   it is said that [the person] did not appear in the chambers and fled.  One, Regarding Lord Nabeshima's permission from Inshū, up until now coastal defense preparations and battery fortifications have been   strictly constructed, and naturally this has caused financial distress. However, at the recent meeting of domain lords, [they said]:   "Your domain has made thorough coastal defense preparations at great expense, and even the authorities above have heard of this and   acknowledge it, so you will undoubtedly receive official commendation. Therefore, regarding the matter of returning to your domain,   if you first submit your petition and it is properly resolved, then we others can subsequently submit our own requests for leave."   Such was the nature of their consultation.  One, Lord Nabeshima's petition reads: "I have constructed coastal defense preparations and battery fortifications in my domain,   causing particular hardship. Even farmers and townspeople have fallen into distress. Since the American castle visit matter   will be resolved peacefully, I humbly request leave to return to my domain to implement recovery measures, therefore
