arrived from Sanshu province, it is said. In Sanshu, within one night,
prices rose by 15 monme as stated above. Local cotton traded from 1,850 me per sen
to 1,800 me per sen, while old cotton traded at around 2,200 me per 2 sen, it is said.
Wax: the greatest decline in 30-40 years
From last winter to this spring, the market price was around 2,300-400 me per 2 sen,
but now it has fallen to around 4,300 me per 4 sen - a rare decline in recent years,
it is said.
Rice
Near Nihonbashi, within three chō, at places like Fukiage and Matsu, the market price for brown rice
purchased was 5 to 9 shō per 6 to, and even premium rice was available. Sendai domain rice sales:
no rice available at this time.
