俺の名前は平仮名の辻法印というのだ。親父はよほど人に恐がられたものだが、俺もうまくやりたいものだ。

一つ目小僧は入道に世を譲られたが、なかなか今までのように丸盆に豆腐を載せて雨降りに柳の下から桃太郎とやらが出すような、のろのろしたことをしては大入道の株が下がると、格子縞の大どてらを仕立てて角棒をよたよたとついて、諸国化け修行に出かけた。
