諸悪莫作衆善奉行吾業唯在＿二
此八字＿一￣ニ耳而￣シテ兪々自得以楽＿二居諸＿一￣ヲ【注】
覆載中之一閑人也閑人￣ニシテ而与＿二￣カル
間事＿一￣ニ不＿二亦因縁＿一￣ナラ乎此書也余得＿二 四
癖＿一￣ヲ以成￣ル焉文園性躭＿二読￣シ国書＿一￣ヲ

引
諸悪莫作衆善奉行、吾業唯だ此の八字に在るのみ。しかして兪々として自得し、以て居諸を楽しむ。覆載中の一閑人なり。閑人にして間事に与るは、また因縁ならずや。此の書なり、余四癖を得て以て成る。文園性国書を読むを躭る。
英語訳
Preface
"Do no evil, practice all good deeds" - my work lies solely in these eight characters. Thus I am content and at peace, finding joy in the passage of time. I am but one idle person between heaven and earth. That an idle person should become involved in worldly matters - is this not also due to karmic connection? This book came to be because I acquired four obsessions. Bun'en by nature delights in reading national literature.
