現代語訳
有限な眼をもって無限の書を窮めようとし、蔵書を積むこと一万巻に及ぶ。専ら精読誦読に励み、年を重ねても倦むことなし。あるいは竿を持ち麦に漂うに至るまで、人々は蠹魚の後身と見做す。これ一癖なり。梅居は皇和古今の人物を稽査し、搢紳武林より僧儒隠畸に至るまで、その生卒出処において一つとして調べざるものなし。

He dedicates himself exclusively to careful reading and recitation, never tiring despite advancing years. Even when he takes up a fishing rod and drifts among the wheat fields, people regard him as the reincarnation of a bookworm. This is one obsession.
