人とし又尾陽雑記には蓮如上人の子 実恵（じつゑ）其子正経本山のゆ
るしを得て住持たりしよし見えたり中世寺を清須にうつし
慶長年中再び名古屋へうつし寛文年中東派より西派に

浄教寺《割書：同町桑名町の東の南側にあり西本願寺直末也大永四年｜僧祐願建立して清須にありしを慶長年中こゝにうつす》本尊《割書：阿弥陀如｜来の腹内》
《割書：に女の髪（かみ）を絹（きぬ）に包（つゝ）みて納置又一紙の添状もあれど年歴久しと見えて何れも破壊（はえ）し文｜字も消てよみがたし此寺もと京都今出川に在しをこゝにうつせしよしなればもしくは》
《割書：今出川家の姫君或は簾中などの遺髪（ゆいはつ）にてもあらんかと｜寺僧はいへと定かならず此仏像春日の作といひ伝へたり》

天台宗で桓武天皇の勅願所であったが、天文二十三年甲寅に円正律師が現在の宗派に改めたと言い伝えられ、あるいは中興開山を蓮如上人とし、また尾陽雑記には蓮如上人の子実恵、その子正経が本山の許しを得て住持となったと記されている。中世に寺を清須に移し、慶長年中に再び名古屋に移し、寛文年中に東派より西派に改めた。○本尊《小文字：阿弥陀の立像》

It was a Tendai sect temple and an imperial prayer temple of Emperor Kanmu, but in Tenbun 23rd year Kinoe-Tora, the monk Enshō changed it to the current sect according to tradition. Alternatively, Rennyo Shōnin is considered the restorer, and according to the Biyō Zakki, Rennyo Shōnin's son Jitsue and his son Shōkyō obtained permission from the head temple to serve as abbots.
