片端の東坂下なる鳥屋筋の辺は
昔の那古野山の谷合にて暮
春の比は遊蕩の諸人酒
さかなを携へ来り山吹
の花を愛つゝ歌ひ舞
ひなとせし地なるが
いつしか武家の宅地
となりて今
も猶山吹の
ところ〳〵に残
れるは昔のおもかげ

現代語訳
山吹谷
片端の東坂下にある鳥屋筋の辺りは、昔の那古野山の谷間で、晩春の頃には遊興の人々が酒と肴を携えて来て、山吹の花を愛でながら歌い踊りなどをした場所である。しかし、いつしか武家の宅地となって、今でもなお山吹がところどころに残っているのは昔の面影である。

Yamabuki Valley
The area around Toriya-suji at the foot of the eastern slope of Katahashi was once a valley of the old Nagono Mountain. During late spring, pleasure-seekers would come carrying sake and delicacies to admire the yamabuki (Japanese kerria) flowers while singing and dancing. However, it eventually became residential land for samurai families, and the yamabuki flowers that still remain here and there are vestiges of the old days.
