禅余偶詠（ぜんよぐうえい）
白い社は春を迎えて世の表面を分かち、どうして
ただ酒を禁じ葷（くん）を摂らないだけであろうか。梵鐘は
地を振るわせて昏い夢を醒まし、仏日は
天に昇って暝い靄を払う。竹の中を流れる鴬は
友を呼ぶといえども、雲の端に舞う鶴は
群れを離れて廻る。香壇の上に新しい
偈を題し、忽ち青い烟が篆文となるのを見る。

The white shrine welcomes spring, dividing the surface of the world—how could it be
Merely prohibiting wine and avoiding pungent vegetables? The temple bell
Shakes the earth and awakens dark dreams; the Buddha-sun
Rises to heaven and dispels the dim mists. Though the warbler flowing through bamboo
Calls to its friend, the crane dancing at cloud's edge
Circles apart from its flock. Upon the incense altar, inscribing a new
Verse, I suddenly see blue smoke forming seal-script characters.
