むことを聞いて、その稿本をも見せてくれたので、その中から真虎が描いた一図を載せて、共に同志の志を遂げさせる。故にこの図のみが古人の筆である。その説明のようなものを抜き取って三、四の巻に収めた。
○編中で引用する群書は、古事記・旧事紀・六国史をはじめ、ほとんど千部に至るが、多くは全文を抄出する。しかし文の長いものは要点を取って裁截するものもある。これは書物の分量に限りがあることを考慮するためである。

Upon hearing of this, he showed us his manuscript, and from it we have included one illustration drawn by Matori, thus allowing us to fulfill our shared aspiration together. Therefore, this illustration alone is by an ancient master's hand. We have extracted such explanatory passages and included them in volumes three and four.
○The various texts cited throughout this compilation, beginning with the Kojiki, Kujiki, and the Six National Histories, amount to nearly one thousand volumes. While we excerpt the complete text from most sources, for lengthy passages we sometimes extract the essential points and edit them down. This is done in consideration of the limitations on the volume of material that can be included.
