せよと密にてうじ合せ三人を床下に忍はせ置き明る正月三日忠
致義朝の御前に出此頃道すがらの御労れを休め給はんため
御湯召さるべしと懇に申ければ頓（やが）て湯殿に入り玉ひぬかくて
金王丸は御刀を持て伺候（しかう）せしが程ふれども御 浴衣（ゆかた）参らせず
諸事ふつゝかなれば金王丸大に怒り自ら取に行ける其 隙（ひま）に
床下より橋七郎飛で出組付しを義朝さはがず心得たりと
捕（とつ）て押（おさ）へ膝（ひざ）の下に踏敷（ふみしき）給ふ続（つゞい）て弥七兵衛浜田三郎も左右
より打てかゝり無二無三に脇（わき）の下を刺し通しぬ此時政清は
なきか金王丸はといひもあへず終に空しくなり給ふ《割書：行年三｜十八》しかして
御首を打取り相図の者に渡して出る所を金王丸帰り合せ此
体を見るより早く三人ともに湯殿の口にて斬伏せたり政清は
夫ともしらず忠宗がもとにて酒飲み居けるが此由を聞つけ立出る

弥七兵衛および浜田三郎は熟練の武者であるので、刺し殺し申し上げよと密かに打ち合わせをし、三人を床下に忍ばせ置いた。明くる正月三日、忠致は義朝の御前に出て「この頃の道中のお疲れをお休めになるため、お湯をお召しになってはいかがでしょう」と懇ろに申し上げたところ、すぐに湯殿にお入りになった。このとき金王丸は御刀を持って付き従っていたが、時間が経っても浴衣を持参せず、万事が行き届かないので、金王丸は大いに怒り、自ら取りに行った。その隙に床下より橋七郎が飛び出て組み付いたが、義朝は騒がず「心得たり」と言って捕らえて押さえ、膝の下に踏み敷かれた。続いて弥七兵衛、浜田三郎も左右より打ちかかり、無我夢中に脇の下を刺し通した。この時「政清はどこにいるか、金王丸はどこか」と言うまもなく、ついに空しくお亡くなりになった（享年三十八歳）。そして御首を打ち取り、手引きの者に渡して出るところを、金王丸が帰り合わせ、この有様を見るや否や、三人ともに湯殿の入り口で斬り伏せた。政清はそうとも知らず、忠宗のもとで酒を飲んでいたが、この事を聞きつけて立ち上がって出てくる

Yoshitomo immediately entered the bathhouse. At this time, Kaneo-maru was attending him carrying his sword, but even after time passed, no bathrobe was brought, and since everything was poorly managed, Kaneo-maru became greatly angered and went to fetch it himself. In that moment, Hashichiro leaped out from under the floor and grappled with him, but Yoshitomo remained calm, said "I understand," seized and pinned him down under his knee. Subsequently, Yashichibei and Hamada Saburo also attacked from left and right, desperately stabbing through his sides. At this moment, before he could even say "Where is Masukiyo? Where is Kaneo-maru?" he finally passed away (at the age of thirty-eight). They then cut off his head and were handing it to their accomplice when Kaneo-maru returned.
