and bestowed it upon him. Truly, this Hakuō was a master craftsman of recent times.
Mount Mannen Sōshinji Temple (located in Tokoname Village, Sōtō sect, branch temple of Enjōji in Hora Village, Mino Province) was founded in the first year of Genna (1615) by the nun Kaei Sōshin (the nun was the daughter of Mizuno Shimotsukenomori and the second wife of Mizuno Kenbutsu). The founding abbot was Priest Tengai (Tengai was the son of the nun Sōshin).
The temple lands were donated by Lord Ieyasu. Tokoname Castle Site (in the same village, the residential castle of Mizuno Kenbutsu Naomori, commonly called Tokoname-den. Now it has become rice fields. In Sōboku's "Tōgoku Kikō" it records "hurrying to Tokoname, whereupon a messenger came from Mizuno Kenbutsu-no-jō," and in Sōchō's notes it mentions "Tokoname Mizuno Kisaburō's lodging." That Kisaburō was Naomori's childhood name)
