に至るまで民用において一つも欠けるものがなく、豊饒さは他国に勝れ、特に四方八方に通じる中央の地であるが故であろう。
国号の起源については、『尾張風土記』の残欠に「尾張国は、古い世の穂曽績古が統治していた所である。神日本磐余彦天皇（神武天皇）が東征の時、湯貴首人を討ち伏せ、帰化させた場所で、海部佩室臣が天皇を射奉った時、天種子命が三角石弓と玉太羽矢をもって佩室臣を射殺し、海部氏の姓を討ち終えた。これにより、その国を『於波里乃国』と号し、『尾張』と謂うのは音の訛りである」とあり、これが尾張国号の起源である。
また惺窩先生が書いた『職原抄』の頭書に「日本武尊が東夷を征して尾張に還った時に帯びていた剣が熱田にある。熱田明神はこの剣で、本来大蛇の尾から張り出した剣である。この剣がこの国に留まったので、尾張国と言う」と見える。

Regarding the origin of the provincial name, the surviving fragments of the "Owari Fudoki" state: "Owari Province was the territory governed by Hosozumi-ko in ancient times. When Emperor Kan-Yamato-Iwarehiko (Emperor Jinmu) conducted his eastern expedition and subdued Yuki-no-obito, bringing about his submission, Ama-no-Hagimuro-no-omi shot at the emperor. Ama-no-taneko-no-mikoto used a triangular stone bow and jeweled thick-feathered arrows to shoot and kill Hagimuro-no-omi, thus ending the Ama clan's resistance. Because of this, the province was called 'Ohari-no-kuni,' and 'Owari' is a phonetic corruption of this." This is the origin of the name Owari Province.
Also, in the marginal notes of the "Shokugensho" written by Master Seika, it states: "When Prince Yamato-takeru conquered the eastern barbarians and returned to Owari, the sword he wore is at Atsuta. Atsuta Myojin is this sword, originally a sword that emerged from a great serpent's tail. Because this sword remained in this province, it is called Owari Province."
Moreover, names like Niibari, Imaharu, and Oharu (the character dictionary states that "kon [cultivation] means haru [to clear/cultivate]") originated from the clearing and cultivation of rice fields and farmland.
