阿波手の森（上萱津村にある）古人の秀詠が多く、蒼鬱とした古林は日の影も見えず、木の下露は雨にも勝り、人の足跡は稀で鳥の声も寂寞とした勝地である。『藻塩草』に尾張とあり、また『名所方角抄』に「阿波手の森は浦里にこれあり。下津という里の南にあり。『建保名所』にも入っている」と記している。阿波堤、粟手、粟殿などとも書く。

Awade Forest (located in Kami-Kayazu village) has many excellent poems by ancient poets. The dark, dense ancient forest sees no sunlight, the dew beneath the trees surpasses even rain, human footsteps are rare, and bird calls create a lonely, sublime landscape. "Moshiogusa" mentions Owari, and "Meisho Hōgaku-shō" records: "Awade Forest exists in the coastal village. It is south of the village called Shimotsu. It is also included in 'Kenpō Meisho.'" It is also written as Awade-tsutsumi, Awade, or Awaden.
