右衛門といへるものゝ家に入り小町の遺跡いづくなりやと問（と）ひければ
其所を教（をしへ）さとしけるに邑（むら）の地頭赤林高住これをきゝ彼僧
を請（しやう）じ小町の由来を尋ねければ彼僧のこたへ甚つまびらかに
して三巻の書を取出し一生の事実（じじつ）を語りきかせ且当年は
小町が八百八十年忌に当れり小町が終身（しうしん）持し如意輪観
音の像塚の中に有べし出現あらば衆生の結縁（けちゑん）小町が菩提（ぼだい）
ともならんと語りければ高住及び法性寺の住僧 性範（しやうはん）ともに
九郎右衛門に案内せさせ彼塚を堀（ほり）けるにはたして銅像の
観音を得たり則法性寺に納めて今に什伝す異僧は其場
にて消（き）ゆるがごとくうせけるとぞ《割書：同村に安倍晴明（あべのせいめい）塚ありこは晴明此地に｜来りし時農民田中に雑草（ざつさう）の生する事》
《割書：を患（うれ）へければ則 幻術（げんしゆつ）を以 莠害（はくさのがい）を除（のぞ）きける故それが為に塚を築（きつ）きて祭りしよし｜いひつたへたり按るに小町塚晴明塚共にきはめてさだかならねど里人の口碑を其まゝ》

小町塚《割書：同村にあり》寛永八年二月、年齢八十余りの異僧がこの里に来て、九郎右衛門という者の家に入り、「小野小町の遺跡はどこか」と尋ねた。
その場所を教え示すと、村の地頭赤林高住がこれを聞き、その僧を招いて小町の由来を尋ねた。その僧の答えは甚だ詳細で、三巻の書を取り出し、一生の事実を語り聞かせ、また「当年は小町の八百八十年忌に当たる。小町が終生持していた如意輪観音の像が塚の中にあるはずだ。出現すれば衆生の結縁となり、小町の菩提ともなろう」と語った。高住及び法性寺の住僧性範とともに九郎右衛門に案内させ、その塚を掘ったところ、果たして銅像の観音を得た。すなわち法性寺に納めて今に伝わっている。異僧はその場で消えるように姿を消したという。《割書：同村に安倍晴明塚がある。これは晴明がこの地に来た時、農民が田中に雑草が生えることを患えていたので、幻術をもって雑草の害を除いたため、そのために塚を築いて祭ったという言い伝えがある。考えてみると、小町塚・晴明塚ともに極めて定かではないが、里人の口伝をそのまま》

Komachi Mound《Small text: Located in the same village}} In the eighth year of Kan'ei (1631), second month, a mysterious monk of over eighty years came to this village and entered the house of one called Kurō Uemon, asking "Where are the remains of Ono no Komachi?"
When they showed him the location, the village magistrate Akabayashi Takasumi heard of this and invited the monk to inquire about Komachi's origins. The monk's answer was extremely detailed - he took out three volumes of books and related the facts of her entire life, and moreover said "This year marks the 880th anniversary of Komachi's death. The image of Nyoirin Kannon that Komachi held throughout her life should be in the mound. If it appears, it will create karmic connections for all beings and also benefit Komachi's enlightenment." Takasumi and the resident monk Shōhan of Hōshōji Temple, together with Kurō Uemon as guide, dug the mound and indeed obtained a bronze Kannon statue. They then enshrined it in Hōshōji Temple where it is preserved to this day.
