《There were white ritual offerings, and in a divine oracle it was declared: "I am Susanoo-no-mikoto, and I shall reside in this place to become the supreme guardian deity of Japan." Based on this, a shrine was built and worshipped with reverence. The place where the deity first manifested among willow and bamboo trees and took residence was called Imori.》
《It should be so》
In the second year of Tenryaku of Emperor Murakami (948, year of the Earth Monkey), an imperial envoy came and a shrine was built in the Kashiwa-no-mori area. In the first year of Kentoku of Emperor Go-Murakami (1370, year of the Metal Dog) in the first month, the deity was granted the highest divine rank of Shōichii and was honored with the title of Japan's Supreme Shrine.《Suson (Susanoo) is indeed the original master of the Imperial realm, therefore he was revered as Japan's Supreme Shrine》
Also, in the first year of Kōwa of Emperor Kameyama (1381, year of the Metal Rooster) in winter, by imperial decree, Ōhashi Mikawa-no-kami Sadami constructed the shrine.《There are many theories in shrine traditions; here I present a brief compilation for reference》
From that time forward, the divine authority increased ever more remarkably day by day. During the Eiroku and Tenshō eras, Lord Oda Nobunaga especially revered this shrine, granting it divine lands and constructing shrine buildings. From then on, from the main shrine and subsidiary shrines to the sacred gates and copper tiles, everything was painted in vermillion lacquer with the utmost beauty and splendor, creating an awe-inspiring sight.《It is said that the practice of placing melon crests on the ritual implements of Tennō shrines began at this shrine during this time》
Originally, the revered deity is the ancestral god who embodies both literary and martial arts. Among his many miraculous powers, he is widely known throughout the world for eliminating epidemics and protecting against smallpox. Therefore, people from far and near countries, regardless of hot or cold weather, from noble to humble,
