《割書:木下藤吉郎が無実の罪を逃れた報謝のため牛頭天王へ参詣する図》
《割書:永禄六年(1563年)の秋の末、信長公が西美濃に向かおうとして、道すがら墨俣に陣を取られた時、その夜、福富平左衛門尉の金龍の面が紛失した。誰彼がこのあたりに近づいたなどと評議する中で、藤吉殿(秀吉)を疑うような様子が見えたので、秀吉公は大いに怒り、その盗人を捕らえて無実の罪を晴らそうと、急いで津島へ駆けつけ、堀田孫右衛門尉という豪商の家に立ち寄ったところ、果たして件の面を質に置こうとしてこの家に来た者を難なく捕らえた。喜悦の余り、これはひとえに牛頭天王の加護であろうと、そこから直ちに天王の御宝前に詣でて拝礼し、すぐに盗人を津島の雑職(下級役人)に引き渡し、西美濃の御本陣へ参ったということである。なお詳しくは小瀬甫庵の太閤記に譲る》

《Side note: Illustration of Kinoshita Tōkichirō (Toyotomi Hideyoshi) visiting Gozu Tennō shrine to give thanks for escaping false accusations》
《Side note: At the end of autumn in the 6th year of Eiroku (1563), when Lord Nobunaga was about to advance to West Mino and set up camp at Sunomata along the way, that night Fukutomi Heizaemon-no-jō's golden dragon mask went missing. While everyone was deliberating about who might have approached this area, it appeared as though Lord Tōkichi (Hideyoshi) was being suspected. Hideyoshi became greatly angered and resolved to capture the thief to clear his false accusation. He hurried to Tsushima and stopped at the house of a wealthy merchant named Hotta Mago'emon-no-jō. As expected, he easily captured the person who came to this house trying to pawn the aforementioned mask. In his great joy, believing this was entirely due to the divine protection of Gozu Tennō, he immediately went to worship before the sacred altar of Tennō shrine.
