蓮根（れんこん）《割書：立田（たつた）輪中（わぢう）の名産とす此辺 都（すべ）て沼池（ぬまいけ）広大（くわうだい）にしてやゝ湖水（こすゐ）にひとしこゝに産する蓮｜根風味 形状（かたち）ともに絶品（ぜつひん）也《振り仮名： 就＿レ 中｜なかんづく》戸倉（とくら）村のを最上（さゐじやう）とす一年に此村々よりひさく所》

江（え）の城にありしが元亀元年十一月 長島（ながしま）の本願寺 門徒（もんと）兵（へい）
を起（おこ）して彦七の居城を囲（かこ）みしかは彦七 土民（どみん）の手（て）に死（し）なん
事を慙（はぢ）て同月廿一日 櫓（やぐら）に登（のぼ）りて自殺（じさつ）せしとぞ古木江は
今大森村の支邑（えだむら）にして子消（こぎえ）と書（か）けり則古川村の隣村（りんそん）
なりされば此古川の城は彦七が住（ちう）せし城にして土人の小
野田彦七といひ伝ふるは織田を小野田と誤（あやま）れるなるべし

現代語訳
蓮根（れんこん）
立田輪中の名産とする。この辺りはすべて沼池が広大にして、やや湖水に等しい。ここに産する蓮根は風味・形状ともに絶品である。中でも戸倉村のものを最上とする。一年にこの村々より収穫する価値は千両余りといわれる。ゆえに夏月の間、荷花が咲き出し、涼しい朝の風景はさながら極楽浄土の金蓮もかくやと思うばかりである。遠境の人は蓮根の価値によってその花の盛んなることを想像すべきである。また岡田挺之の『秉穂録』に「尾州にて水郷の村落を輪中という」とある。『広東新語』に「番禺の諸村皆海島の中に在り、大村を大箍囲と曰い、小村を小箍囲と曰う。言うは四環皆江水なり」とあるのと似たることなりと見えたり。
古川城址
上古川村にあり。土人伝えて云う、「その昔、小野田彦七の居城の址なり」と。
『信長記』を按ずるに、織田彦七は則ち信長公の舎弟にして古木江の城にありしが、元亀元年十一月、長島の本願寺門徒が兵を起こして彦七の居城を囲んだので、彦七は土民の手に死ぬことを恥じて、同月二十一日、櫓に登りて自殺したという。古木江は今大森村の支村にして「子消」と書く。則ち古川村の隣村なり。さればこの古川の城は彦七が住した城にして、土人の小野田彦七と言い伝うるは織田を小野田と誤れるなるべし。

Lotus Root (Renkon)
This is a specialty product of Tatsuta Waju (ring dike area). This entire area has extensive marsh ponds, almost like lakes. The lotus roots produced here are of the finest quality in both flavor and shape. Among them, those from Tokura village are considered the best. It is said that the annual harvest from these villages is worth more than 1,000 ryō. Therefore, when lotus flowers bloom during the summer months, the cool morning scenery is so beautiful that one might imagine it resembles the golden lotuses of paradise. People from distant places should be able to imagine the magnificence of these flowers from the value of the lotus roots. Also, in Okada Teishi's "Heisui-roku," it states that "in Owari Province, water village settlements are called waju." This appears similar to what is written in "Guangdong Xinyu": "All villages of Panyu are located among sea islands; large villages are called Da Kouwai, small villages are called Xiao Kouwai, meaning they are surrounded by river water on all four sides."
Site of Furukawa Castle
Located in Kami-Furukawa village. Local people传 down the story that "in ancient times, this was the site of Onoda Hikoshichi's castle."
According to the "Nobunaga-ki," Oda Hikoshichi was Lord Nobunaga's younger brother who resided in Kokkie Castle. In the eleventh month of Genki 1 (1570), when the Honganji sectarians of Nagashima raised an army and besieged Hikoshichi's castle, Hikoshichi, ashamed of the prospect of dying at the hands of peasants, climbed a watchtower on the 21st day of the same month and committed suicide. Kokkie is now a subsidiary village of Ōmori village, written as "Kokie." It is indeed a neighboring village of Furukawa village. Therefore, this Furukawa castle was the castle where Hikoshichi resided, and the local tradition of calling him "Onoda Hikoshichi" appears to be a corruption of "Oda" into "Onoda."
