現代語訳
の拝殿にて行うのを旧例としている。それは六月朔日、市脇輪中のうち祭りに出る者が参詣し、同七日に人形を作る（能人形にして内外の二百番より籤にてこれを作る）。車楽に乗る稚児、笛、太鼓及び囃子の稽古をなす。同十四日午の刻、当社へ打ち寄り試楽がある。この日、稚児どもへ柏の葉に肴を盛りて飯を出す古例がある。
市江祭記によると、当車は天王御祭礼の始まりであるが、天正元年織田信長公長島合戦の砌、中絶したのを服部氏、宇佐美氏等の浪人がこれを再興した。この服部氏の子孫は市江島の内荷上村に居住し、その家は天正年中に建てたままであるとて今もその古風を保っている。されば故ある旧家にして毎年六月の祭事を司っている。家系については憚ることが多いのでここには記さない。
このように由緒ある車楽なので、神君より金襴唐織の御小袖、金襴楽の胴掛、金襴大口等の御寄付があり、今も例年車に飾りて大なる規模としている。また国君より試楽田若干を寄付し給えり。
大楠 鯏浦村にあり。世に稀なる大樹にして里民がこの木の脂や或いは葉を取ってきて病者に用いれば忽ち平癒するという奇特があるといわれている。樹下に聖徳太子作の薬師如来の小堂、また神明の社もありて常に参詣の人が絶えない。

is performed in the worship hall as an old custom. On the first day of the sixth month, those who participate in the festival from within the Ichiwaki wheel-shaped area come to worship, and on the seventh day they make dolls (Noh dolls, selecting by lottery from two hundred types, both inner and outer varieties). Children who ride in the festival cars practice playing flutes, drums, and musical accompaniment. On the fourteenth day at the hour of the horse (noon), they gather at this shrine for a trial performance. On this day, there is an ancient custom of serving food to the children on oak leaves with side dishes.
According to the Ichie Festival Records, these festival cars originated from the Tennō Imperial Festival, but were discontinued during Oda Nobunaga's Nagashima battle in the first year of Tenshō (1573), and were later revived by masterless samurai including the Hattori and Usami clans. Descendants of this Hattori family still reside in Niage village within Ichie Island, and their house, built during the Tenshō era, still preserves its ancient character. Thus, as an old family with history, they oversee the June festival every year. Details about their family lineage are withheld here due to various sensitive matters.
Because of such prestigious origins, the festival cars received donations from the Shogun including gold brocade Chinese-style weaving kosode robes, gold brocade musical instrument coverings, gold brocade hakama, and other items, which are still used annually to decorate the cars on a grand scale. The domain lord also donated several rice fields for the trial performances.
Great Camphor Tree: Located in Uguira village. This is an extraordinarily rare large tree, and it is said that when local people take resin or leaves from this tree and give them to sick people, they experience the miraculous benefit of immediate recovery. Under the tree there is a small hall with a Yakushi Nyorai (Medicine Buddha) statue said to be made by Prince Shōtoku, and also a Shinmei shrine, so worshippers constantly visit.
