【上段】
○鴆（チン）はタカに似ている。紫黒色で、くちばしは赤黒い。首の長さは七、八寸で、ヘビを食べる大毒鳥である。鳳凰を恐れる。
○雉鳩（キジバト）は家鳩に似ていて、羽は薄い黒赤色で茶色の斑がある。竹林に住み、年中恋しそうに鳴く。
○犳鴫（シャクナギ）は全身が茶色で、首が長く脚も長い。海辺に住む。
○都鳥（ミヤコドリ）は頭から背中は黒く、腹は白い。くちばしと脚は赤い水鳥である。
○音呼（インコ）は大小がある。大きなものは鳩ほどの大きさがあり、小さなものは小鳥ほどである。色は紅色や五色のものがある。中国から来た鳥である。
○羽（ハ）は翎（レイ）・翰（カン）と同じ。翮（カク）は羽根、羽茎のことである。翈（コウ）は風切り羽、翮の上の短い羽のことである。

○The Chin (mythical poisonous bird) resembles a hawk. It is purple-black in color with a red-black beak. Its neck is seven to eight sun long, and it is a highly poisonous bird that eats snakes. It fears the phoenix.
○The Kiji-bato (oriental turtle dove) resembles domestic pigeons, with light black-red feathers having brown spots. It lives in bamboo groves and calls longingly throughout the year.
○The Shaku-nagi (curlew) has a brown body overall, with a long neck and long legs. It lives near the seashore.
