復するを善とす症によりて養生服薬を主とせよ結
痂より以後風引食あたりはら泻しやすきゆへなり
○弟子問て曰右の日 数（すう）の内に変（へん）症有て治しがたきは

師答て曰変症数症あり定候の内甚しきも有
発熱之時 狂躁（きやうさう）とて物ぐるわしき事 驚怖（きやうぶ）とて
おどろきおそるゝ事 天弔（てんてう）直視（じきし）とてそら目（め）つがい
めを見すゑる事 煩（はん）悶とて熱気つよく身もだへ
なやむ事 気 絶（ぜつ）とて目を見つめたえ入事

右はほとほりの常候といへとも甚しきは不治の病也
熱つよきがよきとて油断すべからす
報痘之時 痘 皮（かは）へ重内に在て出かね熱に焦れて
黒（くろ）く地はだと等（ひと）しきは急（きう）に発起すへし金銀
の入たる奇方を用ひよ世上にては金壱歩を煎し
用ゆるも熱毒を解し表（ひやう）をすかすこゝろ也治せ
ざれはけはしく危（あやう）し
起脹之時 痘の出たる中に赤く黒みがち成出もの又
むらさきにて蒲萄（ぶどう）の熟（じゆく）したるやう成は痘丁と云

復するのを良しとする。症状によって養生と服薬を主とせよ。結痂より以後は風邪を引いたり食あたりや下痢をしやすいからである。
○弟子が問うて曰く「右の日数の内に変症があって治しがたいのはどうか」
師が答えて曰く「変症は数症ある。定候の内でも甚だしいものもある」
発熱の時：狂躁といって物狂わしいこと。驚怖といって驚き恐れること。天弔・直視といって空を見つめて目を見据えること。煩悶といって熱気が強く身もだえして悩むこと。気絶といって目を見つめて気を失うこと。

右はほとんど天然痘の常の症候と言えども、甚だしいものは不治の病である。熱が強いのが良いといって油断してはならない。
報痘の時：痘が皮の下に重く在って出ることができず、熱に焦れて黒くなり地肌と同じようになるのは、急に発起させるべきである。金銀の入った奇方を用いよ。世上では金一歩を煎じて用いるのも、熱毒を解して表を透かす心である。治さなければ激しく危険である。
起脹の時：痘の出た中に赤く黒みがちなもの、また紫色で葡萄の熟したようなものは痘丁という。

○The disciple asked: "What about abnormal symptoms that occur within the aforementioned time periods and are difficult to treat?"
The master answered: "There are several abnormal symptoms. Some are severe even among the standard symptoms."
During fever: Manic agitation causing delirium. Fright and terror causing startling and fear. Celestial suspension and direct staring, meaning staring at the sky with fixed gaze. Vexation and distress with strong heat causing bodily writhing and suffering. Fainting with eyes fixed and loss of consciousness.

While these are mostly common symptoms of smallpox, severe cases are incurable diseases. Do not be careless thinking that strong fever is good.
During pox eruption: When pox remains heavily under the skin and cannot emerge, becoming scorched by heat and turning black like the ground skin, it should be urgently stimulated to emerge. Use special formulas containing gold and silver. In common practice, decocting one bu of gold is used with the intention of resolving heat toxins and making the surface permeable. If not treated, it becomes severely dangerous.
During swelling stage: Among the emerged pox, those that are reddish-black or purple like ripe grapes are called "pox nails."
