その茎を截り取って煙炱（すす）の中に置き、時を経ると紫色に変じる。
（この紫の香りは）神を降ろすのに用いることができる。

Purple Wisteria (紫藤)
The leaves of the purple wisteria are slender and elongated; the stem resembles bamboo; the roots are extremely hard and dense/heavy. It has bark; its flowers are white and its seeds are black. If placed in wine (sake), it will not rot or decay even after two or three thousand years. When its stem is cut and placed in soot (煙炱), over time it takes on a purple color. The fragrance (of this purple material) can be used to invoke the descent of deities.
