一 物（もつ）二 種（しゆ）といふ簡法（かんほう）あり。是 物（もの）を見しる
秘伝（ひでん）なり
一 物（もつ）二 種（しゆ）
それ。諸物（しよふつ）の数々（かず〳〵）あるを一覧（いちらん）して。逐一（ちくいち）つま
びらかに。見認（みとめ）んとする事。よろしからず。たとへ
見 認（とめ）たりとも。やがて紛（まき）るゝなり。こゝを以て。見
しるべき物を。二色（ふたいろ）に極（きわ）むべし。もはや三四色に
及べば必（かなら）ず忘（わす）れやすし。其 物数（ものかす）は幾品（いくしな）有とも

たゞ二色（ふたいろ）を目印（めしるし）とす。是を一 物（もつ）二 種（しゆ）と云。
その二色（ふたいろ）は。大（おほ）じるし。小（こ）じるし也。たとへば海上（かいしやう）に。
同（おな）じ（やう）なる船（ふね）あまたあり。陸（くが）には。同（おな）しやうなる
騎馬（きば）。あまたあり。但（たゝ）し。船（ふね）には船（ふな）じるし馬（むま）には
馬じるしあり。是 大（おほ）じるし也。其 大（おほ）じるしの
うちにて。自分（じふん）の心覚（こゝろおほ）へなれば。舟（ふね）にては。幕（まく）
のぼりの類（るい）。馬（むま）にては。手綱（たつな）鞍（くら）鐙（あふみ）の類（るい）にて。
いづれ成とも。一色（ひといろ）に見しりを付（つく）る。是を小（こ）じるし

一物二種という簡単な方法がある。これが物を見分ける
秘伝である。
一物二種
そもそも、様々な物が数多くあるのを一覧して、一つ一つ詳
細に見分けようとすることは、良くない。たとえ
見分けたとしても、すぐに混乱してしまうものである。ここで、見
分けるべき物を、二色に限定すべきである。もし三、四色に
及べば必ず忘れやすい。その物の数はいくつあっても

ただ二色を目印とする。これを一物二種と言う。
その二色は、大印、小印である。たとえば海上に、
同じような船がたくさんある。陸には、同じような
騎馬がたくさんある。ただし、船には船印、馬には
馬印がある。これが大印である。その大印の
中で、自分の覚えやすいものであれば、船では幕や
のぼりの類、馬では手綱、鞍、鐙の類で、
いずれでも、一色で見分けを付ける。これを小印

There is a simple method called "one object, two types." This is the
secret transmission for distinguishing objects.
One Object, Two Types
Generally, when viewing many various objects at a glance and attempting to distinguish each one
in detail, this is not advisable. Even if one
distinguishes them, confusion will soon follow. Therefore, objects to be
distinguished should be limited to two colors. If one extends to three or four colors,
forgetting becomes inevitable. No matter how many objects there are,

use only two colors as markers. This is called "one object, two types."
Those two colors are the large mark and the small mark. For example, on the sea there are
many similar ships. On land, there are many similar
mounted horses. However, ships have ship marks, and horses have
horse marks. These are the large marks. Within those large marks,
if they are easy for oneself to remember, for ships use curtains and
banners and the like, for horses use reins, saddles, stirrups and the like—
any of these will do—distinguish them by one color. This is the small mark.
