一音信贈答嫁娶之規式饗応等万事倹約を可用
旨前々ゟ毎度被 仰出候弥以右之趣急度被相守
猶又此度被 仰出候条々左之通相心得可被申事
一婦人之衣服近年結構ニ相見へ候向後大名之
妻子たりといふ共軽き縫金絲等を用ひ猥に
結構成衣類拵被申間敷候殊に召仕之女に至てハ
猶以上下之差別有之候様に堅可被申付候此度
定直段町中江相触候間其趣を可被存事
一新規塗物之事国持大名之調度たり共軽き
梨子地蒔絵に過へからす妻女之乗物挟箱長
持等之類ハ黒塗蒔絵之紋より上の結構いたす
へからす其余之輩は黒塗軽き蒔絵或はい
つ懸等を用ひ乗物ハ黒塗いし金物又ハ天鵞

新五左衛門（直看）が出向いたところ、音信贈答並びに嫁娶の件について、次の通り御書付を渡された。
覚
一、音信贈答嫁娶の規式饗応等、万事倹約を用いるべき旨、以前から毎度仰せ出されている。いよいよもってその趣旨を厳重に守り、なお又この度仰せ出される条々は次の通り心得申すべきこと。
一、婦人の衣服が近年結構（豪華）に見える。今後大名の妻子であっても、軽い縫金絲等を用い、みだりに結構な衣類を拵えてはならない。特に召使いの女に至っては、なおいっそう上下の差別があるように堅く申し付けるべきである。この度定めた値段を町中へ触れ回ったので、その趣旨を存ずべきこと。
一、新規塗物の件。国持大名の調度であっても、軽い梨子地蒔絵を超えてはならない。妻女の乗物、挟箱、長持等の類は黒塗蒔絵の紋より上の結構をしてはならない。その他の輩は黒塗軽い蒔絵或いは櫟懸等を用い、乗物は黒塗石金物又は天鵞絨色、挟箱長持の類は黒塗或いは溜塗を用いるべし。蒔絵の紋は無用のこと。

Memorandum
1. Regarding the ceremonial rules for gift exchanges and marriage ceremonies, as well as entertainment, frugality should be observed in all matters, as has been repeatedly ordered from before. The aforementioned principles must be strictly observed, and furthermore, the following articles newly ordered should be understood:
1. Women's clothing has appeared increasingly luxurious in recent years. Henceforth, even the wives and children of daimyo must not use light gold thread embroidery or create excessively luxurious garments. Especially for female servants, distinctions between upper and lower classes must be strictly maintained. Fixed prices have been announced to the townspeople, so this principle should be understood.
1. Regarding new lacquerware: Even for the furnishings of province-holding daimyo, they should not exceed light nashiji maki-e (pear-ground lacquerware with gold dust decoration). For women's palanquins, document boxes, long chests and similar items, no decoration more elaborate than black lacquer with maki-e family crests should be used. For other people, black lacquer with light maki-e or itsu-kake should be used; palanquins should be black lacquer with metal fittings or velvet color; document boxes and long chests should use black lacquer or tame-nuri (amber-colored lacquer). Maki-e family crests are forbidden.
