一同日於江戸御家中倹約之儀於御家老部屋本多修理
左之通御書付を以諸向江申渡之
覚
一向後不依何事差上物一切御停止之事
拝領物も無之事
一面々衣服之儀麁服を専可用事御番御供御使
之節たりとも御国絹并細八丈等御構無之候惣而
結構成衣類目にたつ装束堅御停止之事
女中たりとも右同事
一参会之節ハ一汁一菜外ニ香物此外ハ堅御停止
之事縦他所之者たりとも一汁三菜香物共ニ
其外堅仕間敷事万一晴成来客候節饗応之
品仕儀者目付中江相達置可仕事
一音物堅御停止之事父子兄弟之外者軽き物ニ而
も堅御停止之事女中ゟ互之取扱も右同事
堅仕間敷事吉凶共ニ同事ニ候此音物之儀ニハ
紛敷事も有之候間以後者御目付共可相改候間
其段急度可相心得事

同日、江戸において御家中倹約の儀について、御家老部屋にて本多修理が左の通りの御書付をもって諸向へ申し渡した。
覚
一、今後何事によらず差上物は一切御停止のこと
拝領物もないこと
一、面々衣服の儀、粗服を専ら用いるべきこと。御番・御供・御使の節であっても、御国絹並びに細八丈等は御構いないが、総じて結構な衣類や目立つ装束は堅く御停止のこと
女中であっても右同じこと
一、参会の節は一汁一菜の外に香物、これ以外は堅く御停止のこと。たとえ他所の者であっても一汁三菜香物共に、その外は堅くしてはならないこと。万一晴れの来客がある節の饗応の品・仕儀は、目付中へ相談して置くべきこと
一、音物は堅く御停止のこと。父子兄弟の外は軽いものであっても堅く御停止のこと。女中からの互いの取り扱いも右同じこと。堅くしてはならないこと。吉凶ともに同じことである。この音物の儀には紛らわしいこともあるので、以後は御目付が改めることとするので、その段はきっと心得るべきこと

On the same day, regarding austerity measures for the domain retainers in Edo, at the council of elders' chamber, Honda Shuuri issued the following written directive to all departments:
Memorandum
One: Henceforth, regardless of the occasion, all presentation of gifts is completely prohibited
There shall also be no bestowing of gifts
One: Regarding everyone's clothing, rough garments shall be used exclusively. Even during guard duty, attendance, or messenger service, while domain silk and fine hachijō silk are not restricted, generally elaborate clothing and conspicuous dress are strictly prohibited
The same applies to ladies-in-waiting
One: During gatherings, only one soup and one dish plus pickles are allowed; anything beyond this is strictly prohibited. Even for outsiders, one soup and three dishes with pickles and anything beyond that is strictly forbidden. In the exceptional case of formal guests, the items and procedures for entertainment must be reported to the inspectors in advance
One: Gift-giving is strictly prohibited. Except for father-son and sibling relationships, even light gifts are strictly prohibited. Exchanges among ladies-in-waiting are subject to the same prohibition and are strictly forbidden. This applies equally to both auspicious and inauspicious occasions. As there may be ambiguous matters regarding gift-giving, henceforth the inspectors shall examine such cases, so this point must be thoroughly understood
