【右丁 上段】
の祝儀が済んで、待上臈が案内し、舅の
前に出るべきである。嫁より舅、
姑、その外小舅等まで、
小袖、樽、肴相応の
祝儀があるべきである。盃はまず
手掛けを出し、さて三つ
盃を出し、引き渡しを舅、
姑、嫁三人へ据え、舅が三
献飲んで嫁に差す。
嫁が二献飲む時に舅が
三献飲んで嫁に指す。

After the celebration ceremony is completed, the senior lady-in-waiting should guide [the bride] to appear before the father-in-law. From the bride to the father-in-law, mother-in-law, and other family members including brothers-in-law, there should be appropriate celebratory gifts of kosode robes, sake barrels, and delicacies. For the sake cups, first bring out the preliminary cup, then bring out the three cups, and set up the exchange ceremony for the three people: father-in-law, mother-in-law, and bride. The father-in-law drinks three times and offers it to the bride. When the bride drinks twice, the father-in-law drinks three times and offers it to the bride. When the bride drinks twice, there should be a ceremonial gift from the father-in-law.

For common people, this would be ozoni (New Year soup). When the father-in-law and mother-in-law drink the first cup, pour a little sake from the serving pitcher into the sake flask.
