この間に鍾馗の画像を垂れて魔除けをするが、今ここに市川団十郎が「鬼は外」と、其角の名句が鬼神を感動させ、邪気を払ったことは疑いない。易経に鬼神を説くのは、これが造化の作者だからである。阮瞻が無鬼論を唱えて鬼に脅されたという例もあると、ひとり笑って、ようやく草子も書き終わるところに、問屋から写本ができましたかと催促の使いが破魔弓を持って来たので、これは当たるという吉兆である。
昔、高砂の相生の松が化けて夫婦となったというのは、これはめでたい化け物である。それ破魔弓は邪気を払う心で、尉と姥は童を祝福する年の始めの

Kikaku's masterful verse moves even demons and spirits, and there is no doubt it dispels evil energy. The I Ching speaks of demons and spirits because they are the creators of all transformations in nature. There is also the example of Ruan Zhan, who propounded a theory denying the existence of ghosts only to be frightened by one himself. Laughing to myself about this, just as I was finally finishing writing this booklet, a messenger came from the publisher carrying a hamayumi (demon-dispelling bow), asking if the manuscript was ready - this is surely an auspicious sign.
Long ago, the twin pines of Takasago are said to have transformed into husband and wife - this is an auspicious kind of supernatural transformation. The hamayumi bow dispels evil spirits, and the old man and woman bless children at the year's beginning
