私どもの旅宿も震災で潰れ、かろうじて命は助かりましたが、荷物等は潰れた家の下になり、翌朝になって掘り出すことになりました。塩崎村の件については、出火も二三軒焼失しただけでした。この地震の際は四方遠近で一時に出火し燃え立ち、夜中何十回ともなく山鳴りと震えがあり、人の声がおびただしく、岩石の崩れ落ちる音が絶え間なく、田畑や往還も幅二三尺から四五寸位まで縦横に割れ裂け、水が吹き出し、

The local headman officials investigated and reported that in terms of building units there were 400 houses, and along the walking routes there were collapsed houses for 6-7 chō, with approximately 60 injured people. Particularly regarding travelers, it was difficult to quickly determine the exact number of deaths.
Our own lodging also collapsed in the earthquake, and while we barely escaped with our lives, our luggage and other belongings ended up buried under the collapsed building, which we had to dig out the following morning. Regarding Shiozaki Village, only 2-3 houses were lost to fire.
