みる也此人は二階に在りしよし先にはひ出たるは河内屋
にて跡より続て壱人の連もはひ出たるに今壱人の者出て
ぬ故破れたる穴よりまたさくりたるに人は求得す手当
る所の荷物を取出したる向の処より壱人の男襦袢一枚
にて出来たり誰そと声を掛れは三州の人なり是ハ九人
の同勢の処私壱人のかれ出たるよしを云さらハ諸共に
此所を立のかんとそれより打つれて三人となり其夜
ハ近辺の山とやらんまで明せしとなり猶暁になるを
待て其処を立出名古屋を通り日ふち玉屋町近江屋
と云に宿せしなり其時彼地の様体を物語せしとて御城
下にて信州変異の知れたる初発にてありけれ此物語り
により図を板行し売ありく

一此変事無キ前善光寺開帳の建札故なくして倒れ

ずにいたのです。この人は二階にいたということです。先に這い出たのは河内屋で、後から続いて一人の連れも這い出しましたが、もう一人の者が出てこないので、破れた穴からまた探ってみましたが、人は見つからず、手の当たる所の荷物を取り出していました。向かい側の処から一人の男が襦袢一枚で出てきました。「誰ですか」と声を掛けると三河の人でした。これは九人の同行者のうち私一人だけが這い出したということを言いました。それでは一緒にこの場所を立ち去ろうということで、それから連れ立って三人となり、その夜は近辺の山まで夜を明かしたということです。さらに夜明けになるのを待ってその場所を立ち去り、名古屋を通って日富町玉屋町の近江屋というところに宿泊したのでした。その時にあの土地の様子を物語ったということで、お城
下では信州の異変が知れた最初の出来事でありました。この物語によって図を板行して売り歩いているのです。
この河内屋某は一人の連れは失いましたが、幸いに荷物を得たので、衣類や路銀の類に困ることなく、三河の者にも衣類を与え、道は回り道になりましたが一緒に名古屋へ向かい、旅費は私が出しましょうということで当地へ伝わってきました。三河者は多くの同行者を失ったので、しばしばの休息も急いで、急いで急いで国許へ帰ったのでした。

While retrieving baggage from where their hands could reach, a man emerged from the opposite side wearing only an undergarment. When they called out "Who is it?" he replied he was from Mikawa Province. He said that of nine companions, only he alone had crawled out. "Then let us leave this place together," and from then the three of them traveled together. That night they stayed awake until dawn in the nearby mountains, it is said. Furthermore, waiting for daybreak, they left that place, passed through Nagoya, and lodged at a place called Omi-ya in Hifuku-cho Tamaya-cho. At that time, he told the story of the conditions in that land, and this was at the castle
town where news of the Shinano calamity first became known. Based on this story, illustrated prints were published and sold around town.
This Kawauchi-ya lost one companion, but fortunately obtained his baggage, so he was not troubled by lack of clothing or travel money. He also gave clothing to the Mikawa man, and though the route was roundabout, they traveled together to Nagoya, with him saying "I will provide the travel expenses," and thus the story was transmitted to this place. The Mikawa man, having lost many of his companions, hurried without taking frequent rests, rushing urgently back to his home province.
