【本文】
時は七月二日の昼七つ時（午後4時頃）から揺り始め、京都・大坂・伏見の洛中が倒壊し、西や東の本願寺町、町家や土蔵がこの辺り一帯で潰れて強く、牛馬の命を失うことは数知れず。
二日・三日・四日の間に五、六度ほど、殊の外強く（地震があり）、その節は往来へ畳や戸などを持ち出し、その上で老若男女とも神仏を祈り、お蔭で四日の夜明け七つ時にようやく静まり、それより大雨がしきりに降り出した。特に伏見などでは三日の間、振動を致し、老若男女が奇異の思いをなしたけれども、これはまったく王城の地ゆえ、穢れもなく静まったのだとか。

【Main text】
At the time of the 2nd day of the 7th month, from the 7th hour of midday (around 4 PM), the shaking began. In Kyoto, Osaka, and Fushimi, the capital area collapsed, and in the west and east Honganji districts, townhouses and storehouses throughout this entire area were crushed severely. The number of cattle and horses that lost their lives was countless.
During the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th days, about five or six times, the tremors were exceptionally strong. During those times, people carried tatami mats and doors out to the streets, and upon them, men and women both young and old prayed to gods and Buddha. Thanks to this, by dawn of the 4th day at the 7th hour, it finally calmed down, and from then on, heavy rain began to fall incessantly. Particularly in places like Fushimi, tremors continued for three days, causing men and women of all ages to feel strange apprehension. However, since this was entirely the land of the imperial capital, it settled down without defilement, so they say.
