和田村百姓総代久兵衛・官助両名より別紙の通り操り人形芝居興行の件について願い出がありました件について。
しかしながら、かねてより取り決めの通り、著名な神仏堂社への寄進でなければ承認し難く、去りながら右村方の件について申し立てている神仏等が無い所から、石灯籠建立などと名目を付けて願い出ている件ではないかと、詳しく照会し実情を書付で申し出るよう仰せ付けられ、畏れ承知して照会いたします次第は左の通りです。
一、上鮎喰往来筋の川渡りにおいて、上がりの暗夜の折、往来の諸人が大変難渋いたしますので、寛政年中に諸人救済のため常夜灯石灯籠を建立し、あわせて片脇に灯明庵を設置いたしました所、去る

However, as has been previously established, it is difficult to approve unless it involves donations to renowned Buddhist temples or Shinto shrines. Nevertheless, since there are no such religious institutions in the aforementioned village area being claimed, we inquire in detail whether this petition is being submitted under the pretext of erecting stone lanterns or similar, and we have been ordered to make inquiries and report the actual facts in writing, which we humbly acknowledge. The details of our inquiry are as follows:
One: At the river crossing on the Kami-Ayukui highway, travelers experience great difficulty during dark nights when ascending.
