弘化三年未年七月十四日、鮎喰川が出水した際、右往来筋の和田村馬越堤が決壊しました折、右石灯籠並びに灯明庵共に堤の決壊口に当たって一度に崩れ破損いたしました所、昨冬、講中の者共が世話をして漸く庵の件は建て直しましたが、石灯籠の件は差し当たり修繕等も困難なため、漸く堤の上に火袋のみを設置し、諸人の難渋を助けるため庵主が毎夜灯明を灯しております段でございます。上鮎喰川原の件は人家が遠い往来のことですので、何事につけ諸人が難渋いたします件でございます。分けても雨夜などの暗夜の折には目印がございませんては

On the 14th day of the 7th month of Kōka 3, year of the Sheep, when the Ayukui River flooded, the Wada Village Umagoshi embankment on the aforementioned highway was breached.
