一本多孫太郎親内蔵助儀者正保三戌年其御地江

失不相知候孫太郎手前ニ者覚書有之候
孫太郎三拾六歳罷成候以上
但同月十日於御用番小笠原佐渡守殿駕乗御免之儀

一、二月三日、御鷹狩のため吉江へお出かけになった（同七日に御帰殿）
一、同月四日、内膳直知様が御小姓に任命された（去る月二十三日）ことについて、御礼のため江戸表へ御書状を差し出した
一、同月九日、月次の御機嫌伺いのため、御使者宮北長左衛門定由を江戸表へ派遣し、御肴一種を献上した。長左衛門は今日福井を出立した
ただし同月二十二日に御返書の御渡しがあった
一、同月二十五日、歳暮の御祝儀御献上について、御内書が御城において御渡しされ、御家来への拝領物等は例年通りであった
一、同日、今度の御参勤の際に本多孫太郎長員をお連れになることになったため、孫太郎の御先規駕乗御免の件について、徳山又兵衛重年殿、大岡次右衛門忠久殿を通じて、御老中土屋相模守政直殿まで左記の通り御内意御伺書を差し出した
覚
一、本多孫太郎の父内蔵助は正保三戌年にその御地へ参った際、三十三歳の時、部屋住みの時分から乗物で勤めていた。その折、古越前守がお断り申し上げた趣旨の旧記は焼失してしまい分からないが、孫太郎の手元には覚書がある。
孫太郎は三十六歳になっている。以上

One: On the 9th day of the same month, messenger Miyakita Chōzaemon Sadayoshi was dispatched to Edo for the monthly inquiry into [the shogun's] well-being, presenting one type of ceremonial fish. Chōzaemon departed from Fukui today
However, a reply letter was received on the 22nd day of the same month
One: On the 25th day of the same month, regarding the year-end congratulatory offerings, an inner letter was presented at the castle, and gifts to retainers followed the usual practice
One: On the same day, since Honda Magotarō Nagataka was to accompany [the lord] on this sankin [alternate attendance], regarding Magotarō's precedent for palanquin riding exemption, an inquiry document regarding inner intentions was submitted through Tokuyama Matahei Shigenari-dono and Ōoka Jiemon Tadahisa-dono to Rōjū Tsuchiya Sagami-no-kami Masanao-dono as follows:
Memorandum
One: Honda Magotarō's father Kuranoske, when he went to that place in the 3rd year of Shōhō (Year of the Dog), at age 33, served using a palanquin from the time he was a retainer living in his father's house. At that time, the former Echizen-no-kami made a request [for exemption], but the old records of this matter were lost in a fire and are unknown. However, Magotarō has a memorandum in his possession.
Magotarō has reached the age of 36. The above.
