（前ページより続く）その定座を伝えた。その後また、浪花（大坂）の嶋田尚政が『発軍算法』を解いた。後学の者たちが次々と続き、『一極算法』あるいは『算法図説』などといった書物が、すでに「牛に汗し棟に満つ」（※1）というほど世に溢れている。ただ五車に積む（※2）ばかりではないであろうか。しかしながら、世の名ある者たちは、演段（※3）の伏題（※4）にこだわって、理外の空法（※5）を理解しないため、初心者が理解するための指南書を出す者がいない。そこで、私はここに含霊軒（※6）において、九九から始めて、八算・見一（※7）の法術をよく覚えやすくするための秘伝の指南を和解（わかりやすく解説）し、図式に表した。また巻末には、児童の学びの階梯（※8）となる算書を記して、その品目を明らかに部分（分類）し、さらにまた私が開基（※9）するところの「理外の空法・無法の法」たる妙権の術（※10）を記して、これへと導くこととした。名づけて『初心算法早伝授』という。まことにこの書に向かうときは、師なくして諸商（※11）の算法を一時に悟る徳（益）に入るべし。しからば（次ページへ続く）

(Continued from the previous page) — transmitted those fixed positions (*teiza*). After that, Shimada Naomasa of Naniwa (Osaka) solved the *Hatsugun Sanpō* (※1a). Subsequent learners followed one after another, and works such as the *Ikkyoku Sanpō* and the *Sanpō Zusetsu* have already come to fill the world to overflowing — so much so that one might say the oxen sweat and the rafters are full (※1), or that they are piled up by the five cartload (※2). Yet despite this abundance, those of renown in the world remain preoccupied with the hidden problems (*fukudai*) (※4) of the endan method (※3) and fail to grasp the mysterious, transcendent techniques (*rigai no kūhō*) (※5). As a result, no one has produced a guidebook through which beginners (*shoshin*) can achieve a proper understanding. Therefore, I have here, at the Kanreiken (※6), taken the secret teachings — beginning from the multiplication tables (*kuku*) through the *hassen* and *ken'ichi* methods (※7) — rendered them into plain explanation (*wage*) and illustrated diagrams so that they may be readily learned. Furthermore, at the end of the volume, I have recorded mathematical texts that serve as a stepladder (*kaitei*) (※8) for young learners, clearly categorized and arranged. Moreover, I have set down the wondrous technique (*myōken no jutsu*) (※10) — which I myself have founded (*kaiki*) (※9) — that transcendent, lawless method which lies beyond ordinary principle, so as to guide the reader toward it. This work I have named the *Shoshin Sanpō Hayaden ju* ("Quick Transmission of Arithmetic for Beginners"). Truly, when one takes up this book, one ought to be able, without a teacher, to attain the benefit of immediately comprehending the arithmetic of all manner of commercial calculations (※11).
