現代語訳
「分福茶釜に毛が生えた」ということわざがあるが、とんだ茶釜が薬缶となったのをいよいよ意気地なしと、その薬缶の文字の真ん中に毛が生えて「やけのかん八」となった。銀の茶釜が方に小金の釜の入る由を聞き出し、すぐに乗り込んで「釜をこちらへ渡せ」とねだりかかったが、もとより銀の茶釜方には身代を謝へ見受け金を渡しおいた事なので、とんだ茶釜へ渡すべき様がないと理屈を言っても聞き入れず、暴れ出して大騒ぎをやったので、銀の茶釜が頭へ紐をつけ、石腹を引きずり回すのが心地よい。

♪我鍋も小金の釜が請け出されたる事を聞き、銀の茶釜方へ嫉妬しにきたので、茶碗が計らいにて藁を取り寄せ、我鍋が頭の中にて藁を焚かせた。これよりこの鍋に金気を出して本当の鍋となり世に出ることができたのも、ひとえに銀の茶釜が情けである。薬缶も我鍋が心を改めしを見て、その身の先非を悔み、これも本当の薬缶親父となり大人しくなったのは優しきことよ。

英語訳
There is a saying "Bunbuku Chagama ni ke ga haeta" (hair grew on the Bunbuku tea kettle), and when the troublesome tea kettle became a medicine kettle, it was considered even more cowardly. Hair grew in the middle of the characters for "yakan" (kettle), turning it into "yake no kan-hachi" (desperate Kan-hachi). The silver tea kettle heard that there was a small gold kettle at that location, immediately barged in and begged "hand over the kettle to us." However, since the silver tea kettle side had originally apologized for their circumstances and paid a deposit, they argued that there was no way to hand it over to the troublesome tea kettle. When it wouldn't listen and started causing a big commotion, the silver tea kettle tied a rope to its head and dragged it around by its stone belly, which felt satisfying.

♪The cracked pot also heard that the small gold kettle had been ransomed out and came to the silver tea kettle's side out of jealousy. So the tea bowl arranged for straw to be brought, and had the straw burned inside the cracked pot's head. From this, this pot developed metallic properties and became a real pot, able to enter the world - this was entirely due to the silver tea kettle's kindness. When the medicine kettle saw that the cracked pot had reformed its heart, it too regretted its past wrongdoings and became a proper medicine kettle father, growing gentle - what a touching thing.
