長公為下知秀吉人数日野谷へ寄十八日ノ間責秀吉謀

三林善四郎《割書：六條代官なり》初陣は葛原合戦である。
○この頃の面々が所々に城を持っていた。日野谷城には黒瀬角道有り《割書：三林の舅なり》《割書：日野谷は大聖寺の南東》。羽佐谷には藤丸並びに宮北修理《割書：六條の代官田尻但馬の子なり、一揆方》。松山には徳山五兵衛《割書：柴田衆》。大聖寺には梁田出羽。粟津の上大杉には大杉彦左衛門。黒谷には大孝という道橋坊主がいた。
○日野谷合戦で、日野谷の先手は黒瀬角道の家中、二番の大将は高安である。一揆方の三林人数は雑兵百三十ほど、先手は堀五兵衛である。然るに高安の郎等で瀧源次という者を鉄砲にて討ち取った処に、この頭を三林方より引き下ろす。高安はこれを下ろそうと槍を持ち山の半腹に攻め登るが、槍を鉄砲にて打ち折られるといえども、源次の首は敵に奪われず助かった。ここにおいて六條扶持人堀才助の弟才蔵が狩野で十分な働きがあった。
○加賀四郡が一手になって瀧ケ原へ出る時、夜討ちがあった。
○堀才助【欠損】ゆえ堀五兵衛が退かない様子でいる所に、才助の弟才蔵が矢に

当たる。その矢を五兵衛が抜き、引っかけて退却を促した時、堀五兵衛は高名の首一つを取った。その日はこの首だけであった。この殿（首）は朔之の事か菅生浪の事か。
○石坂合戦。この時は角道が大坂方になった。角道が味方になったことにより大聖寺を攻めるべしということで加賀衆が立つ。然れども敵方の人数が多いことにより、その夜に加賀人数は引き下がった。
○角道、三林、笈生の五郎右衛門、右三人にて日野谷を持った。信長公の下知として秀吉の人数が日野谷へ寄せ、十八日の間攻めた。秀吉の謀略により大筒として千人ほどにて篠ノ葉【欠損】を自ら引き、彼の鉄砲にて撃ち、城の塀二間ほどを崩した。その後五日の間に大木を伐り、清楼を上げ、右の大筒を打ったところ筒が裂けて清楼共に谷へ落ちた。その後三林の親戚木下五郎兵衛《割書：秀吉の従弟》のこちらへ秀吉より和談の矢文を射させた。五郎兵衛は合点であるが、三林は大坂の御恩を蒙っているということで同心しない。去れども【欠損】より以後、城中は動揺した。

○At this time, various people held castles in different places. At Hinoya Castle was Kurose Tsunemichi (marginal note: Sambayashi's father-in-law) (marginal note: Hinoya is southeast of Daishōji). At Hasatani were Fujimaru and Miyakita Shuri (marginal note: son of Rokujō's deputy Tajiri Tajima, on the ikki side). At Matsuyama was Tokuyama Gohei (marginal note: Shibata forces). At Daishōji was Yanada Dewa. At Kami-Ōsugi in Awazu was Ōsugi Hikozaemon. At Kurotani was a priest named Daikō from Dōkyō temple.
○In the Battle of Hinoya, Hinoya's vanguard was Kurose Tsunemichi's retainers, and the second commander was Takayasu. The ikki forces under Sambayashi numbered about 130 foot soldiers, with Hori Gohei as vanguard. When Takayasu's retainer named Taki Genji was shot and killed by arquebus, this head was retrieved by Sambayashi's side. When Takayasu tried to retrieve it by climbing up the mountainside with a spear, though his spear was broken by arquebus fire, Genji's head was not captured by the enemy and was saved. Here, Saizō, younger brother of Hori Saisuke (a retainer of Rokujō), performed excellent service at Kano.
○When the four districts of Kaga united as one force and advanced to Takigahara, there was a night attack.
○Hori Saisuke [text damaged] therefore when Hori Gohei remained without retreating, Saisuke's younger brother Saizō was hit by an arrow.

Gohei pulled out that arrow and urged retreat by dragging him back. At that time Hori Gohei took one distinguished head. That day there was only this one head. This head was either from the Sakuno affair or the Suganami affair.
○Battle of Ishizaka. At this time Tsunemichi sided with Osaka forces. Since Tsunemichi became an ally, the Kaga forces mobilized to attack Daishōji. However, because the enemy had large numbers, the Kaga forces withdrew that night.
○Tsunemichi, Sambayashi, and Gorōemon of Ōu - these three men held Hinoya. Under orders from Lord Nobunaga, Hideyoshi's forces approached Hinoya and besieged it for eighteen days. Through Hideyoshi's stratagem, about a thousand men with large cannons pulled up [damaged text] and fired with those arquebuses, collapsing about two ken of the castle walls. After that, over five days they cut down large trees and erected siege towers, but when they fired the large cannon, it burst and fell into the valley along with the siege towers. After that, Kinoshita Gorōbei (marginal note: Hideyoshi's cousin), who was related to Sambayashi, had an arrow message about peace negotiations shot from Hideyoshi's side. Though Gorōbei agreed, Sambayashi refused to consent, saying he had received great favor from Osaka. However, from [damaged] onward, those in the castle became unsettled.
