ものきたらんするにはしめてうをゝやきてさす
へしそののちこせつく【五節句】をはしめてかのおにともを
五たいをてうふく【調伏】するならはゑこそわたりえまし

こせつくは正月七日にはわかなをつみて三ほう
にたてまつるふしきやおにのまなこいるとて大
まとをいる三月三日のもゝのはなはおにのしゝむら【肉】

しやうふはほねすちとてさけにいれてのむなり
ちまきはおにのもととりとてこれをくふなり七

現代語訳
【右丁】
「物が来ようとする時には、初めに魚を焼いて差し出すべきである。その後、五節句を始めて、かの鬼どもを五体を調伏するならば、決して渡って来ることはできないであろう」と申したので、様々な方法で調伏なさった。五節句は、正月七日には若菜を摘んで三宝に献上する。不思議なことに、鬼の眼を煎るといって大豆を煎る。三月三日の桃の花は鬼の肉の色になぞらえて酒に入れて飲むべきである。五月五日の菖蒲は骨筋といって酒に入れて飲むのである。粽は鬼の髻を取るといってこれを食うのである。七月七日の麦は鬼の腸といって食うのである。

九月九日の菊の花は鬼の升毛、あるいは鬼の頭の脳になぞらえて食うのである。このように様々になぞらえて食うのである。鬼国の藍婆もこれを聞いて、「日本の者どもは我らを様々な方法で調伏する。その上、日本には神という恐ろしい曲者がいる。なかなか行って死戦するよりも、日本へ渡ることを止めるべきである」といって眷属どもを止めた。それほどに中将は元の契りにも劣らず、比翼連理の語らいも浅からず、心に掛かることもなくておられた。栄華は限りなく、百二十年の寿命を保ち続けた。

For the five seasonal festivals: on the seventh day of the first month, young herbs are picked and offered on a three-tiered stand. Mysteriously, they roast soybeans, calling it "roasting the demons' eyes." The peach blossoms of the third day of the third month should be put in sake and drunk, likening them to the color of demons' flesh. The iris of the fifth day of the fifth month is put in sake and drunk, calling it "bone and sinew." Rice dumplings are eaten, calling it "taking the demons' topknots." The wheat of the seventh day of the seventh month is eaten, calling it "demons' intestines."

The chrysanthemum flowers of the ninth day of the ninth month are eaten, likening them to demons' facial hair or the brains in demons' heads. In this way, they eat them with various symbolic meanings. The demon country's Ranba also heard this and said, "The people of Japan subjugate us through various methods. Moreover, in Japan there are terrifying tricksters called gods. Rather than going and fighting to the death, we should cease crossing over to Japan," and thus stopped her retinue. To such an extent, the Middle Captain, not inferior to his original vow, with intimate conversations like inseparable birds and intertwined trees, lived without any worries on his mind. Their prosperity was limitless, and they maintained a lifespan of one hundred and twenty years.
