厚説得いたし此後火事沙汰無数
相成候様世話可致旨御書取を以被仰渡候
　此儀火之元之儀ニ付而は前々ゟ厳重之
　触申渡も有之冬春之内は別而
　守方之儀申渡置其上御沙汰有之候
　節は猶更厳敷申付候儀ニ而一体
　去ル丑年并午年両度大火之
　如キは天災とも可申哉ニ候得共
　実は一夫一婦之過失ゟ生し候儀ニ而
　精密ニ入念候得は先は火災は無之
　筋ニ候得共御府内之土地四方平遠之
　場所故風当強ク殊ニ人家建続

厚く説得し、この後火事騒ぎが数多く発生しないよう世話をするべき旨を御書取をもって仰せ渡された。
　この件、火の元の件については前々から厳重な触れ（布達）を申し渡してもおり、冬春の間は特に防火の件を申し渡し置いている。その上で御沙汰があった節にはなおさら厳しく申し付けることであり、一体において去る丑年並びに午年の両度の大火のようなものは天災とも申すべきものかもしれないが、実は一人の男女の過失から生じたことであり、精密に入念に注意すればまずは火災はない筋合いであるが、御府内の土地は四方が平坦で遠方まで見渡せる場所であるため風当たりが強く、殊に人家が建ち続いて

They should thoroughly persuade [the townspeople] and take care to ensure that fire incidents do not occur in great numbers hereafter, as ordered through an official written directive.
　Regarding this matter of fire prevention, strict notifications have been issued from long ago, and during winter and spring, fire prevention measures have been particularly ordered. Furthermore, when official instructions are given, even stricter orders are to be issued. Generally speaking, the great fires of the past ox year and horse year might be called natural disasters, but in reality they arose from the negligence of individual men and women. If one pays meticulous and careful attention, fires should generally not occur. However, since the land within the government domain is flat terrain extending far in all directions, the wind strikes strongly, and particularly with houses built continuously
